A reminder to complete the ESSA June Institute EVALUATION for both Day 1 and Day 2!

Welcome to the first annual June Institute for Schools at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines Iowa!  

We hope you find what you need across this 3-day event focused on supports in the areas of literacy, mathematics, social-emotional-behavioral well-being and mental health, subgroups, and culture/climate! This site is for all attendees to have access to presenters and session materials.  This is not where you register.    

Please note that registration must be completed within the AEA Registration System, and that special sessions are pre-registration only. Registration links for the Conference and Special Sessions are located HERE.

Kay Augustine

Kay is the Project Director for the federal School Climate Transformation Grant at the Iowa Department of Education (DE). She is part of the DE Learning Supports team working at the state level with AEAs and local school districts to develop a strong foundation for a Multi-tiered System of Supports focused Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Well-being and Mental Health. Kay’s past experience includes teaching in public and private school settings, administrative roles in higher education, K-12, and non-profit settings as well as facilitating consulting and training across the U.S. and internationally with youth, schools, and communities. A key focus of Kay’s passion, experience, and focus is on integrating systems for social-emotional learning and character development, as well as, authentic youth engagement and voice in their schools and community. Kay is the former National Project Coordinator/Trainer for Check & Connect at the University of Minnesota. Kay received her Doctorate in Education Leadership from Drake University from where she also holds a Bachelor of Music Education, a Master of Science in Education in special education, and a Specialist in Education Leadership. She earned her Certificate in School Leadership for Social-Emotional Learning and Character Development from the Academy for Social Emotional Learning. Kay’s the proud Grandma to 5 adorable grandchildren!
