Welcome to the first annual June Institute for Schools at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines Iowa!  

We hope you find what you need across this 3-day event focused on supports in the areas of literacy, mathematics, social-emotional-behavioral well-being and mental health, subgroups, and culture/climate! This site is for all attendees to have access to presenters and session materials.  This is not where you register.    

Please note that registration must be completed within the AEA Registration System, and that special sessions are pre-registration only. Registration links for the Conference and Special Sessions are located HERE.

Emily Lang

Emily Lang is a teacher and Urban Arts Coordinator in Des Moines Public Schools, and co-founder of Movement 515, RunDSM, and the Urban Leadership Academy. Ms. Lang earned her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with endorsements in English, Rhetoric, & Theatre; a Bachelor of Arts in English, and MSE in Teacher Effectiveness and Professional Development from Drake University. Lang was recognized with the  Young Professionals Connection and DM Juice 2015 Creative Award of the Year and the 2013 Mary Mcleod Bethene Award by the University of Iowa College of Education to teachers who “demonstrate an innovative and unique perspective on promoting and building respect for diversity in the classroom by going above and beyond required curriculum.’for her commitment to empowering others to be the best they can be; and the 2018 Phyllis Yager Memorial Commitment to Diversity Award. The award recognizes educators who demonstrate a commitment to empowering and uplifting others to be the best they can be.
