ESSA Summer Institute has ended
A reminder to complete the ESSA June Institute EVALUATION for both Day 1 and Day 2!

Welcome to the first annual June Institute for Schools at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines Iowa!  

We hope you find what you need across this 3-day event focused on supports in the areas of literacy, mathematics, social-emotional-behavioral well-being and mental health, subgroups, and culture/climate! This site is for all attendees to have access to presenters and session materials.  This is not where you register.    

Please note that registration must be completed within the AEA Registration System, and that special sessions are pre-registration only. Registration links for the Conference and Special Sessions are located HERE.

Cyndy Erickson is currently an Independent Consultant, working across projects focused on culture/climate issues across educational environments. Cyndy Erickson joined the Department of Education in 2007 as the Consultant for Learning Supports.  and Safe and Drug Free Schools from 2007 to 2015. Prior to that she worked for  Des Moines Public Schools for over 20.  Cyndy has spent most of her career serving students in the areas of dropout prevention and drug and violence prevention.  Career highlights include co-leading the Iowa Safe and Supportive Schools grant to develop the Conditions for Learning survey and related materials and supports for schools, writing and managing numerous grants including the Safe Schools/ Healthy Students grant that encompassed seven Polk County school districts; developing the 2 EASY database that was used by all Iowa school-based youth services projects; and co-authoring Practical Evaluation for Collaborative Services.  Cyndy has a BA in Applied Behavior Analysis and an MA in Public Administration.
