Welcome to the first annual June Institute for Schools at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines Iowa!

We hope you find what you need across this 3-day event focused on supports in the areas of literacy, mathematics, social-emotional-behavioral well-being and mental health, subgroups, and culture/climate! This site is for all attendees to have access to presenters and session materials. This is not where you register.

Please note that registration must be completed within the AEA Registration System, and that special sessions are pre-registration only. Registration links for the Conference and Special Sessions are located HERE.

Re-Spark the Soul & Rebuild the Energy: Creating Inclusive and Engaging Classrooms

This session will model culturally responsive specific strategies for implementation in the classroom. Participants will be able to replicate strategies in their own classrooms and schools. Participants will:

Identify and practice strategies to improve Conditions for Learning through improved adult student relationships;
Learn the value of vulnerability and community building in order to establish authentic, inclusive safe and brave spaces where all students feel validated and empowered to use their voices ;
Understand how to create conditions for improved student to student relationships, including safe environments for self-reflection, new learning, and actionable steps; and
Learn practices that empower and engage students in critical thinking, decision-making and deep learning
