Welcome to the first annual June Institute for Schools at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines Iowa!  

We hope you find what you need across this 3-day event focused on supports in the areas of literacy, mathematics, social-emotional-behavioral well-being and mental health, subgroups, and culture/climate! This site is for all attendees to have access to presenters and session materials.  This is not where you register.    

Please note that registration must be completed within the AEA Registration System, and that special sessions are pre-registration only. Registration links for the Conference and Special Sessions are located HERE.

LETRS Foundations - An Introduction to Language and Literacy: DAY 1

LETRS Foundations is a teacher's first step in gaining essential knowledge about effective teaching of reading. Foundations introduces educators to the concepts and practices supported by reading science. Crafted for the adult learner, this session addresses the differences between good and poor readers; aspects of language that are important for literacy; the components of effective instruction; principles of systematic, explicit instruction in each component; and instructional activities that can support the implementation of universal core instruction as well as interventions. LETRS Foundations is full of engaging activities, exercises for practice and review, and explicit connections to the classroom.

*Participants are required to attend the full Day 1 and Day 2 training.
